YANTRA SHAKTI
"Shakti is the feminine principle, the energy and creative power of all creation. To move through the Shakti yantra is to awaken within the Self the kinetic cosmic principles which expand to create the infinite universe of matter and spirit."
About Yantras & Mandalas:
Just as a mantra with regard to sound, a Yantra is a geometrical composition that reveals a particular energy configuration whose power increases in exact proportion to the abstraction and precision of the diagram. Used together with mantra, or seed sound syllables, each yantra displays the patterns of force heard in the mantra.
A Mandala is a structural matrix, through and from which flow a succession of changes. It consists of a series of concentric forms representing a passage, a portal to the Self.
Following the patterns within a Yantra or Mandala, while moving towards the center point, enlivens our consciousness, corresponding experiences, feelings, and recognitions of harmony with the eternal rhythms of nature and the cosmos.
About Yantras and Gazing:
Used in the technique of gazing, a yantra is a sacred, ancient and traditionally Eastern meditation tool. Also called mandalas, yantras represent specific qualities of consciousness. A yantra (or mandala) is the visual equivalent of a mantra.
To use a yantra it is best to be in a comfortable meditative posture. As you focus on the center point in the design, let your gaze diffuse to incorporate your peripheral vision. Never use a hard stare. While gazing softly at the center point, absorb the layers of concentric geometrical forms as you move your gaze outward. Try to completely let go, dissolve yourself and merge your whole being with the yantra. As you continue to do this, feel the design of the yantra realigning and balancing your consciousness. It is a subtle, yet profound experience. You can gaze as long as you like. Gazing at the beginning of your meditations is especially helpful.
The individual designs of each yantra serve very specific purposes. The qualities of the saint or deity for which the yantra was designed are imbued in the yantra's pattern.
